This new collection contain the four original works for viola and piano by Toivo Kuula as well as those works and arrangements for violin and piano that could be performed with a viola without a key change. Hanen musiikissaan melankolia yhdistyy teeskentelemattomyyteen. Teokset/works: Aamulaulu, Satu illasta, Lied, Valse Caprice, Chanson sans paroles, Melodia lugubre, Suru, Kansanlaulu 1 & 2, Etela-Pohjalainen tanssi, Etela-Pohjalaisia kansanlauluja, Ut min vag i varlden gar ja Ela itke impeni nuori.

Uuno Klami (1900-1961) was born in Virolahti and studied in Helsinki, Paris and Vienna. While living in the capital city Helsinki, he always spent his summers in the original homestead in Virolahti. Klami is most known for his colourful orchestral works, but works for piano frame the different times of the composer's life nicely. The piano works are so joyous that transcribing from for organ is firmly based. Surumarssi (Trauermarsch) Op. 8 was composed when Klami was 16 years old, most likely in memory of his late mother. Pastoral A-flat major was composed in December 1919; I find it contains the feeling of Christmas. Barcarole Op. 5 is a French-influenced work. I often find myself thinking of a boat bobbing on waves, while I play this work. I believe these organ transcriptions bring many joyful moments in concerts as well as in other congregational use. And not only that: they can be used as pedagogic material as well.

They are ideal for music schools' string ensembles: themes move from one instrument to another, so that everyone will have fun content to play, many of the works have easy parts so that even those who have just started learning the instrument can join. All parts are ready to be used with bowings printed on them. In this series a total of three volumes of transcriptions will be published. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are for string orchestra, Vol. 3 for violin orchestra (or 2-3 violins). The package contains three playing scores. This work takes both its name and inspiration from a lighthouse “Sword Cape†that keeps watch near Japan’s naval base. The piece describes how, come rain or shine, the lighthouse bids a safe journey to departing ships, guides them during their travels and eventually welcomes them home again. The music evokes many musical images - grand ships sailing by, white-capped waves, the deep blue of the ocean and the light of ‘sword cape†as it silently guides ships over the mysterious waters.
