Symphonic Overture Op. 81D

Overture symphonique de Bertold Hummel a été initialement partie de l'Orchestre symphonique de Orgeon. Il a été ensuite révisé comme une oeuvre à part entière et donné le titre Overture symphonique. Ce travail, qui dure environ huit minutes, est conçu à partir d'une idée thématique. Il explore les Resources techniques ainsi que les riches couleurs tonales de la bande de vent. Elle convient tant pour les compétitions de concerts. Bertold Hummel fut l'élève de Harald Genzmer. Il fut un maître de chapelle à Fribourg, puis jusqu'à sa retraite, professeur de Composition à la Musikhochschule de Würzburg et directeur du Studio für Neue Musik (Studio de la nouvelle musique). / Grand Ensemble A Vent

Of the four overtures that Beethoven composed for his only opera the ?Leonore Overture? No. 3 is the most popular. The first reviewer found fault with it for its ?incessant dissonances and overblown fluttering of the violins? (Wiener Theater-Zeitung 1806) but it soon became famous as ?one of the most imposing difficult yet richest and strangest of compositions? (Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung 1810). This version of the ?Leonore Overture? quickly established itself independently of the stage in the concert hall and has found a lasting place in the symphonic repertoire.

En 2004 Ferrer Ferran fut chef invité de la formation.L?idée de composer cette œuvre est née lors d?un dîner réunissant Ferrer Ferran Werner Buchmann directeur de l?Orchestre d?Harmonie et quelques membres de la formation. Ferrer Ferran répondit favorablement à leur demande et suggéra à Werner Buchmann sur le ton de la plaisanterie de lui chanter un motif de cinq notes qui servirait de leitmotiv à l?œuvre. Après un long moment de réflexion celui-ci s?exécuta et chanta le motif suivant :Lab (3) - Si (2) - Ré# (4) - Mi (4) - Fa (3)Et c?est avec ce même motif de cinq notes que FerrerFerran a structuré son ouverture. Le résultat est époustouflant : la musique est superbe et souligne la force créatrice du compositeur.
