The Adagietto is the 4th movement of Gustav Mahlers (1860-1911) FIFTH SYMPHONY, written in 1901-1902. It is Mahler's most popular work, often performed separately from the symphony. This incredibly expressive piece of music was a love song to his future wife Alma, and is eminently suitable for solo violin with piano accompaniment. Otto Winterbecher, a disciple of Mahler, created this transcription.

The Blumine movement included in the original five-movement version of Mahler's Symphony No. 1 was long considered lost. Composed as early as 1884 for a theater piece, Mahler inserted it into the symphony as its second movement in 1888. After three performances, he turned his back on this Love Episode, calling the sentimental, gushing movement a youthful folly, and removed it. Mahler's Hamburg autograph score was only rediscovered in 1966. Benjamin Britten gave the Blumine movement a new hearing at the 1967 Aldeburgh Festival. The critical new edition is based for the first time on the autograph score, together with the meanwhile rediscovered score copy with Mahler's last revisions.The cloth-bound volume PB 5661 contains next to the final version of the four-movement Symphony, the Blumine movement.First edition based on the copy of the score revised by Mahler Hamburg 1893.

Mozart's late E flat major Symphony was written in 1788, presumably for subscription concerts that ultimately did not take place. The new edition is based on the sole extant authentic source, the autograph from the Biblioteka Jagiellonska in Krakow. Unfortunately, the manuscript was notated negligently and faultily, which forced the editor to make frequent decisions about whether Mozart did or did not intend different articulations at many passages. Haydn’s Symphony in C major Hob. I: 90, dated 1788 in the autograph, belongs to a group of works that he composed between the Paris symphonies (Hob. I: 82–87) and the London symphonies (Hob. I: 93–104). It thus belongs to the last symphonies he wrote before his journeys to England in 1791–92 and 1794–95. Continuing the collaboration between Bärenreiter and the G. Henle publishing company regarding Haydn's large-scale choral works, operas and symphonies, this edition is based on the G. Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn. “Composed in 1978 by Henri Dutilleux, Timbres, Space, Movement is a work for Orchestra, also named ?The starry night? after a painting by Van Gogh. It was commisioned by Mstislav Rostropovich for the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington and is dedicated to Charles Münch. This great orchestral work lasts approximately 20 minutes and depicts the content of the painting. It is written for a full orchestra without Violins or Violas. A sketch of the placement of the instruments is given in the book as its disposition differs from a full orchestra: The Cellos placed in a half-circle in front of the conductor. The Cellos represents the space with twirling solos and more stagnant sections while the lack of Violins and Violas is for the quiet and motionless part of the painting. The solo of the Winds and Drums characterizes the clouds and the light of the moon and the stars. It is divided in two parts: 1. Nébuleuse (Nebula) and 2.Constellations, which are divided by a Cello interlude. Henri Dutilleux was internationally acclaimed for his work winning prizes such as the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society and the UNESCO's International Rostrum of Composers, amongst many others. His work also includes a Piano sonata, two symphonies, the Violin concerto 'L'arbre des songes' (The tree of dreams) and the Cello concerto 'Tout un monde lointain' (A whole distant word).â€.
