Easy Piano Pieces from Bach to Schönberg-The Wiener Urtext Album is an album of selected easy Piano pieces from various Wiener Urtext editions. The album contains well-known and lesser known original compositions from Bach to Schoenberg which are intended to diversify second and third-year Piano lessons. The pupil shall get accustomed to original Urtext compositions as early as possible and at the same time be encouraged to play creatively. Valuable help is provided by the short index of composers at the end of the volume containing links to Internet pages on the composers which shall encourage the pupil to hunt up further information.As in other Wiener Urtext editions this volume toocontains the obligatory facsimile page. Compared with modern notation it can get both teachers and pupils onto fascinating expeditions.

Carl Maria von Weber's fame rests mainly on ?Der Freischütz'. The unprecedented success of this opera overshadowed all his other works and contributed to their increasing fall into oblivion. Certain works such as ?Preciosa', ?Oberon', and ?Euryanthe', the overtures, solo concertos and piano sonatas, the lieder and chamber works enjoyed great popularity and were widely known in Germany and abroad as late as the second half of the 19th century. However, any chance of a revival of Weber's influential and substantial oeuvre was wasted in the 1920s, when a complete edition - begun by Hans Joachim Moser and with potential contributors including Wilhelm Kempff, Hans Pfitzner, Max von Schillings, Fritz Stein and Richard Strauss - failed after the third volume.Ever since there have been numerous attempts to restart a complete edition of Weber's works, but as this kind of project would have required the co-operation of scholars from both sides of the inter-German border, the political situation after 1945 was not conducive to any such enterprise. Careful negotiations led to the first tangible steps in the 1980s. The intention, right from the beginning, was to place Weber's work in context, and not to separate his musical output from his influential work as a writer, critic and organiser in the musical field, but to publish his compositions together with his letters, diaries and other literary output as the best way to document the cross-fertilisation between his musical, literary and practical activities.Since the German re-unification both working-parties concerned - at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and at the Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar, Detmold/Paderborn - have co-operated on the complete edition of the musical works (c. 45 volumes in 10 series: sacred music - cantatas, odes and other occasional works - stage works - lieder and vocal works - orchestral works - chamber music - music for piano - piano reductions - miscellanea, arrangements and orchestrations - works of doubtful attribution). The diaries (6-8 vols.) are edited in Berlin and the letters (8-10 vols.) and other writings (2 vols.) in Detmold. This complete edition aims to be a reliable basis of scholarly debate as well as for the authentic performance practice of Carl Maria von Weber's music. Conforming to the standards of recent historico-critical editions, the textual material will be based on all available authentic sources, accompanied by a detailed documentation of the genesis and a list of variants for each work. The musicological importance of the works will be evaluated by placing them in their historical context, the presentation of their genesis, history and Critical Commentaries. The letters, writings and diaries will be treated as inter-related and relevant to each other in the commentaries, therefore readers should benefit from a wealth of concise information and cross-references. / Score

When Reubke died in 1858 at the age of only 24 his achievements included two monumental works (a Piano sonata and an Organ sonata) and a few smaller compositions including a Trio for Organ. This Urtext edition brings together the two Organ works in a new edition: the Organ sonata is also known by the title of the 94th Psalm whose words inspired its content. The Sonata whose style and virtuosity show the influence of Liszt is one of the greatest Organ works of the whole Romantic period. The Trio a musically charming but technically less demanding piece should represent a welcome addition to the teaching repertoire forOrgan. The only original documents remaining for these works are the first editions. In this new edition we have attempted to correct obvious mistakes in the first impression and to offer cautious suggestions for improvements in dubious instances.

Complementing the Impromptus and Moments musicaux, the Wiener Urtext Edition also presents a new edition of the three late piano pieces D 946. Careful study of Schubert's autographs has led to various retouchings in the musical text, in D 946/2 for instance to the supplementation of a bar. The edition offers a new approach to the issue of the second episode of D 946/1, deleted by Schubert in the autograph, but included in the posthumous first edition and meanwhile embraced in modern concert practice. The separate edition of these repertoire pieces that have enjoyed increasing popularity since the 1970s has been expanded to include the two piano piano pieces D 916B/C that have survived as fragments and have been completed by Robert D. Levin in close observance of Schubert's compositional principles. Like the three piano pieces D 946, both works originate from the context of the Impromptus and have survived in the composer's autograph sketches. Their inclusion in this volume completes the picture of Schubert's late keyboard output and provides new impulses for the pianistic concert repertoire. / Piano

When Joseph Haydn composed his smaller early Piano sonatas then called divertimentos he clearly kept the beginner and amateur pianist in mind. With only few technical demands these works nevertheless provide an excellent insight into the cosmos of Haydn's Piano music and introduce the player to Haydn's musical language in an exemplary manner. The current edition combines four of the most popular of these easy sonatas for beginners' lessons which already contain essential elements of the classical Viennese Piano style. The text is based on the revised new edition by Ulrich Leisinger who is also responsible for the legendary urtextedition of Joseph Haydn's Piano sonatas by Christa Landon.

Solomotette Zum Dreifaltigkeitsfest Oder Zu Weihnachten. Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. A good six years following its first performance in Milan [1773] a second version of Exsultate, jubilate was completed for a performance on Trinity Sunday in 1779. It has survived in a manuscript from Salzburg. This “Salzburg version, ” which was discovered in 1978, differs from the “Milan version” primarily through the use of flutes instead of oboes and also through the use of two different texts for the first aria. In the first version the text refers to Christmas, whereas in the second version it refers to the festival of Trinity. Mozart’s autograph of the Milan version had been thought to be missing since the second world war and it has only been accessible in the BibliotekaJagiellónska in Kraków for a little over a decade.
