This a cappella setting opens by asking the question, What song can I bring in thanks for everything? The answer comes from a rhythmic response setting from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night: I can no other answer make but thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks. Mixed meter, contrasting sections, and suspensions make this an engaging piece for choirs and audiences alike.  .

Written for the International Contemporary Ensemble and for Tenor Peter Tantsits. The work was created through ICEs First Page Commissioning Program thanks to the lead support of Frances Kazan. The first performance was given on 3 August 2016 in Hearst Plaza at Lincoln Center, New York City, U.S.A. Performance notes: As a composer I have a tendency to write music in rather low dynamics. The dynamics indicate an atmosphere and the urge to approach the music with a sense of calm rather than merely indicating the dynamic level. I do not intend for the music tobe too quiet but rather projecting a sense of serenity. I would kindly ask that the dynamics be tuned to the location of the performance and subtly dramatized as appropriate with regards to the performance space and/or concert venue. To the accompaniment of everyday lifeindicates an atmospheric approach to the music that suggests fragility and loneliness. The work was commissioned to be premiered outside, so the music was inspired by the notion of hearing the environment accompanyingthe music. - Anna Thorvaldsdottir. Language: English.

Remembrance was written in November 2018. In remembrance of what it took for us to be here... was the only original program note. The piece can mean different things to different people; however, it brings unity to all under the theme of remembrance. We fight for many things: love, patriotism, freedom, ideology, possession...all of which have cost tremendous sacrifice. It was the battles, the blood and sweat, and the sacrifice of those that came before us that created the world as we know it. Remembrance is a tender, melancholic reflection that silently gives thanks to every step and every sacrifice that was made to bring us what we have today. Yes, what we have may not be perfect--nor is it anywhere near complete--but with each generation's responsibility to carry the torch and never forget, hopefully we can make everything worth it. Performance Notes This tender piece is an excellent opportunity to explore nuanced phrasing. While many sections may play similar parts, often the phrasing and dynamics are marked differently across the band. Each of these discrepancies should be brought out and add to the perpetual motion of the piece. Encourage confident, yet subtle entrances and furthermore, think about the ends of notes as important as the beginning. Really bring out the hairpins in sections such as m. 29, m. 67, and m. 81 as expressive devices. Despite the piece's major key, through the various levels of dissonance and tension, both the ensemble and the audience should feel the sacrifices and tragedy that this piece celebrates. The tempo should not be much slower than the marked tempos and with the careful observation of the various tempo changes, there should be a constant momentum pushing throughout the piece, all the way past the end that leaves the audience in thought with an uplifting, pensive, and gentle clarinet chord.Remembrance was written in November 2018. “In remembrance of what it took for us to be here...†was the only original program note. ,,… the musical text is fine. This is a valuable improvement. (Clifford Bartlett, Early Music Review)

With the new edition of the G-minor Symphony, a vital work group in Mozart's oeuvre is now complete: the three late symphonies K. 543, 550 and 551, now available in Urtext editions. As in his new edition of the Hafner Symphony, Henrik Wiese uncovers in the present Breitkopf Urtext score three different stages in the genesis of the G-minor Symphony. Mozart initially wrote the work without clarinets (1st stage), and then he added the clarinets (2nd stage). Not until a final stage did he change the wind instrumentation in the Andante (3rd stage). Mozart thus returned to the 1st version again after completing the 2nd version (with clarinets). This advances the importance of the 1st version without clarinets as Fassung letzter Hand. A compelling insight which sheds new light on the famous G-minor Symphony. Both versions are of equal value and can now be compared with one another, studied and, above all, performed for the first time ever thanks to the new score and parts.Another extremly practical aspect that should be noted: the orchestral parts offer solutions for all the problematic page turns for the first time ever (please see the sample pages of OB 5542 - Violin II.),,... the musical text is fine. This is a valuable improvement. (Clifford Bartlett, Early Music Review)3 Work Stages, 2 Versions, 1 Edition.
