Mozart's Turkish Rondo is the last movement of his Piano Sonata No. 11 In A K. 331 and it is one of the most well known of all Mozart's works. It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands the music of which was much in vogue at that time. Suitable for Grade 4 standard Trumpet.

From the comic opera filled with pirates Turkish princes kidnapping and daring rescues Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio is the piece of music that generated the (possibly fictional) ?too many notes?story. It is written in the Turkish ?janissary? style a style of music that fascinated Europe at the time. In this arrangement the right hand of the piano is frequently written 8va to help recreate the piccolothat figured prominently in the original.

Début février 1794, Haydn se rendit à Londres pour son deuxième séjour en Angleterre. Deux mouvements de la Symphonie en Sol majeur Hob. I:100 étaient à ce moment-là déjà terminés, et l’œuvre fut complétée puis exécutée le 31 mars. La fanfare de trompette du deuxième mouvement et l’utilisation des percussions «de Janissaires» sont à l’origine de ce surnom de «Symphonie militaire», que Haydn a même utilisé lui-même. Son succès à Londres fut considérable: rien qu’en 1794/1795, l’œuvre fut jouée neuf fois et fut très vite considérée comme l’une des symphonies de Haydn préférées du public.
