Three Etudes for Viola was composed by American composer and arranger Nico Muhly. Written for Nadia Sirota. Three Etudes for Viola was designed as performance pieces as well as practice, the etudes help to deal with the messy fifth-based string crossings Muhly's harmonic language sometimes outlines. These three etudes can be performed in any order, all together, or singularly. The pre-recorded material for Three Etudes for Viola should be mixed in such a way that the viola rides in the middle of the texture. Etude 2, however, should favor the solo viola. To obtain a download of the zip file with an MP3 audio recording of this publication, copy the URL below and paste it in your browser address bar.http://s3.amazonaws.com/static.musicsalesclassical.com/media/electronics/Three_Etudes_Viola_Playback_Files.zip.

This book focuses on the intersection of melody and harmony. While valuable for all instrumental and choral composers and arrangers, it specifically explores ways to move melodic voices independently within three-part harmony on the guitar. All you need to benefit from this book is the ability to read standard notation on the guitar. Working through this book will improve fretboard knowledge and help you write better melody-chord arrangements. For the first time in print, VOICE MOTION presents a condensed, comprehensive list of all the possible ways for three voices to move in 2nds or 3rds within the context of common 7-note or heptatonic scales. This is effectively a work in three movements - Allegro, Andante cantabile and Presto - which Davies likens to 'three obstacle courses, bristling with technical difficulties'. However, as he goes on to say, 'young people are naturally gifted with extraordinary rhythmic skills which normally remain untapped'. Given the opportunity, older children have here the material for a highly arresting piece of music-making. Scoring also includes a small wood block, a small temple block and a small suspended cymbal. The xylophones are one each of the following: concert, soprano, alto and bass. The two glockenspiels are soprano and alto and the metallophones are bass and deep bass (a vibraphone may be used instead of the latter). These studies will provide a challenge to all percussionists, for whom there is a distinct shortage of suitable studies. Duration c. 5mins.

Three sketches is a series of three pieces for Piano named after the elements. Composed by Masayuki Nagatomi, it is quite a difficult series to play and it requires some advanced skills and abilities. The total duration of the set is 5'30 minutes. The pieces are: 1. Wind - which main theme represents a soft and quiet breeze, 1'30 2. Fire - fast and violent, which can destroy everything, and which depicts the flames sometimes big and sometimes smaller, 1'30 3. Water and Earth - really slow to start with, this part sounds like a river flowing quietly, with some part of acceleration The most difficult aspect of this series will probably be to give the correct execution for the audience to recognise each element. .
