The High Songs, a commission from 12 bands across the country, became a 24-minute suite for Amplified Cello and Chamber Winds of five movements, an instrumental song cycle featuring the solo cello in high tessitura. The calm opening (Nepenthe) is followed by a big band evocation (Moto Perpetuo). Pann further explores the ensemble with Passacaglias and Adjusting the Torque (a nod to fellow composer Michael Torke), then finishes the suite with a simple Song for Heidi, which features a piano duet. When Carter Pann writes a substantial work exploring the vitality and colors of the wind ensemble, the results are guaranteed to be ravishing.

This game-changing deck is the world's first to offer DVS control of digital music via DJ software as well as analog playback of vinyl records, helping artists take their performances to the next level. Never worry about needle skipping again when you use the PLX-CRSS12 in DVS mode with Serato DJ Pro or rekordbox. The tone-arm-free playback means artists can scratch a real analog record as vigorously as they like without fear of missing a beat. And when they want to play a record the traditional way, they can simply switch the deck to Analog mode and use the tone arm as normal. However artists like the decks to feel, the PLX-CRSS12 adapts to suit their style. By adjusting the rotation dial on the included MAGVEL CLAMP, artists can change how “heavy” or “light” the record feels. Artists can also adjust the turntable's torque level in the utility settings, and there are 3 stopping speeds to choose from. At first glance, artists will see how the PLX-CRSS12 has been designed for fluid scratching and intuitive performances. And when they look closer, they'll notice new features that enable a greater level of control and creativity. The battle-style layout leaves plenty of room for scratching and there 4 MIDI-mappable Performance Pads too. Artists can also keep an eye on crucial information via the OLED display. As well as the exciting features artists can see, the PLX-CRSS12 includes a host of new additions which are hidden. Various components have been upgraded from the highly respected PLX-1000 professional turntable to create the best-ever analog sound from a Pioneer DJ deck.

Text by Franc-NohainPlace and time: The plot takes place in Toledo, in the 18th centuryCharacters: Concepcion, Torquemada's wife (Soprano) - Gonzalve, bachelier (Tenor) - Torquemada, clockmaker (Trial (Tenor)) - Ramiro, muleteer (Baryton-Martin) - Don Inigo Gomez, banker (Bassbuffo)Maurice Ravel gives free rein to his enthusiasm for Spain in this one-hour comedy (L'Heure!). Dances such as Jota, Habanera, Seguidilla and Malaguena shimmer through, and in places Bizet's dramatic Carmen is travestied with admiration. Based on first editions and the autographs, Jean-Francois Monnard presents in L'Heure espagnole a meticulous Urtext that corrects in detail all previous shortcomings, and, especially in the vocal parts, resolves the discrepancies between the piano vocal score published in 1908 and the full score published three years later. The appendix to the full score and piano vocal score includes a new German/English prose translation of the libretto.
