(+)
Arrangeur: Cho-Liang Lin. Over the wonderfully enjoyably years of conducting, there have been so many fine encounters with the Mozart Violin Concertos - mostly with very gifted players like Menuhin, Oistrakh, Stern and, more recently, Cho-Liang (Jimmy) Lin. There have, however, been instances (only a few, I'm pleased to say) when I've come, in the performances, to dread the onslaught of those cadenzas, which sound like a send up of Paganini, or belong to the wrong century with a plethora of double-stopping lasting too long, venturing into tonalities Mozart would not have recognized. After several performances with Jimmy came a request from him for suitable cadenzas that showed off the solo violin while commenting on Mozart's music he had just played. They worked, and Sony asked us to record them all and, with the welcome inclusion of Jaime Laredo, all the rest of Mozart's violin and orchestra repertoire. This led to in an invitation from Schott to have the cadenzas published, and this is the result. / Classique / Recueil / Violon

(+)
Written in the year 1775, Mozart's lively violin concerti manifest the young composer's astonishing maturity and command of his craft. An incredible fluency of musical speech ? richness of texture and sheer beauty of melodic line pervade this music (Veims, The Concertos). Indeed, the concerti are the composer's earliest compositions that have maintained a secure position in the world's repertoire. Also a staple of the concert hall is the Sinfonia Concertante, K.364, composed in 1779, and scored for violin, viola, and orchestra. Undoubtedly the most significant work Mozart composed that year, the piece is distinguished by its symphonic sweep, advanced harmonies, and the beautiful slow movement, among Mozart's most moving creations. Now all six masterpieces are available in this convenient, inexpensive edition.

Concerto no. 1 (Kreutzer)-Parisian violinist Georges Catherine (1872-1958) compiles an exciting collection for the Violin repertoire. The first solo from Kreutzer's Concerto No. 1 is clearly printed with a helpful key of unusual techniques. Kreutzer (1766-1831) was a French violinist teacher conductor and composer. He composed a significant forty operas and nineteen Violin concertos. The Violin solo line of Concerto No. 1 makes use of extended techniques including harmonics bow techniques aritculations and double stops. Catherine's series  Premiers Solos Extraits De ConcertosClassiques provides essential access to significant repertoire of the Violin preparing advanced violinists for the major concertos.

Cadenzas and Lead-ins for Piano Concertos-This volume contains all of Beethoven’s surviving cadenzas and lead-ins for Piano concertos: both for his own concertos nos. 1 4 for his Piano arrangement of the Violin Concerto op. 61 as well as for Mozart’sConcerto in d minor K. 466. They were in all probability not intended for his own use as Beethoven’s improvisatory skills were legendary. His pupil and patron Archduke Rudolph of Austria in whose librarythe unpublished autographs were kept for decades during the composer’s lifetime might well have prompted him to do so. This Henle edition contains the musical text of the Beethoven Complete Editionthat has been put into a new order and updated.Piano Concerto no. 1 in C major op. 15: first cadenza 1st movement Piano Concerto no. 2 in B flat major op. 19: cadenza 1st movement Piano Concerto no. 3 in C minorop. 37: cadenza 1st movement Piano Concerto no. 4 G major op. 58: first cadenza 1st movement Piano Transcription of the Violin concerto in D major op. 61a: cadenza 1st movement Piano Transcription of the Violinconcerto D major op. 61a: Transition: 2nd to 3rd movement Piano Transcription of the Violin concerto in D major op. 61a: first cadenza 3rd movement Piano Concerto in d minor K. 466 by W.A. Klavierauszug-The Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 1 in G major was written in 1802 and published in 1803 as opus 40 while the earlier Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in F major was written in1798 but not published until 1805 as opus 50 leading to some confusion as to the actual chronology. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 1827) was a German composer and pianist and arguably the most famous composer ofall time. He was the last great figure of the Classical era and helped pave the way for the Romantic style that followed. His compositions include 9 Symphonies 5 Piano Concertos 1 Violin Concerto 32 Piano Sonatas and 16String Quartets.

for Violin and Orchestra-Mozart composed the majority of his works for solo String Instruments and Orchestra during the years 1773 to 1779. Especially important in this context are the years 1773 and 1775 which witnessed the creation of the five concertos for Violin and Orchestra as well as several single movements for the same scoring. The reasons for this flourish of activity in this domain lie partly in the fact that Mozart who still occupied the post of concertmaster to the Prince-Archbishop was either obliged or inspired to provide such works for special occasions during this long period spent in Salzburg. But another reason was certainly the possibility of experimenting withall the new compositional techniques acquired during his third trip to Italy and his stay of several months in Vienna from July to September 1773.The Piano reduction of Mozart?s G Major Violin Concerto is easier to play uncluttered and practical with page turns where you need them and where necessary fold-out pages. The solo part gives players the critical Urtext of the New Mozart Edition. The tutti passages are all presented in normal size print for players wanting to perform these sections with the first Violins. An ossia has been included in small print for the last four measures before the first solo passage to allow for the transition to the solo section.A prepared performance part is also included with bowings fingerings and performance practice comments. An additional brochure is included with todays most performed cadenzas ?Eingänge? and fermata embellishments by Eugène Ysaÿe Leopold Auer Sam Franko and Martin Wulfhorst. This collection offers players a spectrum of styles available in no other publication.Urtext of the New Mozart EditionFull score and parts (BA4865) Violin and Piano reduction (BA4865-90) and study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm (TP272) available for sale.

TWV 51:a1 A minor 51:D9 D major 51:g1 G minor-Three Concertos for Violin A minor TWV 51: a1; D major TWV 51: D9; G minor TWV 51: g1No fewer than twenty-five violin concertos by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) have come down to us over the years - presumably only a fraction of his total output in this geme. But even this corpus though reduced by time reveals that Telemann like other composers of his day regarded the violin as the most important and most versatile of all solo instruments. Two of his operas - Der neumodische Liebhaber Damon (1719 TWV 21:8) and Die last-tragende Liebe oder Emma und Eginhard (1728 TWY 27:25) - open with introductory violin concertos; there are eight concertos for twoviolins; and the violin plays an important role in virtually all his concertos for two or more solo instruments.Urtext of the Telemann EditionPerformance material available for hire

Considered one of the most technically difficult works for the Violin Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major Op. 35 is one of the best known Violin concertos constantly performed by the world’s greatest artists. The genius of Tchaikovsky translates beautifully in the expressive second movement of the concerto. This edition is arranged for Violin solo with a Piano accompaniment replacing the ensemble part.Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s works included symphonies concertos operas ballets chambermusic and a choral setting of the Russian Orthodox Divine Liturgy. Mozart?s concertos for Violin and Orchestra belong to that elite group of works determining a Violin players abilities; they are elegant and transparent with demanding passage-work. The Concerto In D Major K.2 271a the ?6th? Mozart Violin concerto has come down to us in two separate sources a French set of parts and score copy as well as a Berlin score. The editorial board of the New Mozart Edition considers this concerto to be of doubtful authenticity. There are however many musicologists who feel that the work has numerous Mozart attributes. This new publication takes both the above mentioned sources into account andincludes the cadenzas from the respective New Mozart Edition volume appendix although these are certainly not from Mozart's pen.- The ?6th? Mozart Violin concerto!- Cadenzas from the sources.- With an alternative ending.- Additional solo part with fingerings and bowings.- Straight-forward Piano reduction.- Full score and performance material (BA5769) and Violin and Piano reduction (BA5769-90) available for sale.
