Serenade in Eb major K. 375-Late in the evening on his name day in 1781 Mozart was on his way to bed when he suddenly heard familiar sounds coming from outside: the six musicians who had given the première of his Serenade in E-flatMajor two weeks beforehand and whom he had described as ?poor fellows but who can blow together quite nicely? had now met in the courtyard and were serenading him with his own work. Although it was officially composedfor Therese Hickel in actual fact Mozart mainly wanted to impress Emperor Joseph II whose chief of the royal chamber music often went to Therese?s house ?That?s the reason why I also put a little effort into it?. Didit really help? At any rate Mozart was appointed imperial chamber composer by Joseph II a few years later.

for String Sextett-For String Sextet (2 Violins 2 Violas 2 Cellos Bass) set of parts.Mozart?s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola K. 364 (320d) is his only complete surviving work in this genre. He wrote it in 1779 after returning from Paris and Mannheim.For two decades it was known only in a few copyists? manuscripts. The first edition did not appear until 1802. Written for the sister-in-law of the court painter Hickl it probably originated toward the end of September or the beginning of October in 1781 and was first performed on 15 October the name-day of St. Theresa.The octet version probably arose in the summer of the following year. It is far more than a mechanical expansion of the sextetwith the oboes merely reinforcing the clarinets colla parte. Not only did Mozart take advantage of the occasion to make changes in the articulation and the dynamics he also altered the work’s melodic substance and formal design. The two additional high-register instruments allowed him to achieve more subtle distinctions and gradations of timbre thereby enabling him for example to vary the timbral homogeneity of the two clarinets. This edition features new electric guitar transcriptions compiled from the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The collection includes 11 pieces including 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik K525 I ' 'Rondo alla Turka K331 III ' 'Sonata K545I ' and 'Symphony #40 K550 I.' As with other editions in this series these transcriptions are intended to be performed with a pick — employing string-skipping alternate hybrid and sweep-skipping techniques.
