Under the title of 'Kleinere Werke' [Small Works] the second volume of Organ works by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in the Wiener Urtext Edition contains all works written by the composer except for the multi-movement sonatas for Organ: preludes fugues trio chorale arrangements and pieces for musical clock. The fugues in particular prove that C. Ph. E. Bach was an attentive pupil of his father. The music theoretician Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg appreciated these fugues so much that he included some of them as examples in his theoretical writings. The pieces for musical clock are a varied selection of pieces in the style galant which were originallywritten for mechanical instruments and which are best to be performed on the organ. Together with the Organ sonatas published in Vol. 1 this is probably the most comprehensive collection of works by Bach's second eldest son which can be performed on the Organ.

Although Franck's output for the organ was small it was influential. This volume contains his best-known works for organ including Six Pieces (Liszt ranked them with the masterpieces of Bach) Trois Pieces—including the well-known 'Piece Heroique'—and the Trois Chorals perhaps Franck’s finest organ works. Reproduced directly from authoritative Durand edition in an oblong format designed for easy use at the keyboard.

This volume devised by Martin Weyer contains organ music of easy to medium technical difficulty for use at communion. The broad range of styles encompasses Johann Sebastian Bach and early Classical works through to the late Romantic period.

The album contains original compositions and first publications as well as arrangements for organ and twelve pieces for communion in settings by Johann Sebastian Bach with melodies and texts appropriate to communion. Some of the pieces can also be performed with solo instruments (in C, Bb or F). Corresponding instrumental parts are included with the score.

Henry Purcell had a marvelous natural ability for counterpoint which was especially evident when combining pungent English counterpoint with expressive flexible and dramatic word settings. His Organ Music is no less a showcase for his melodic abilities and in this edition a feast of intelligent keyboard writing lies. This compilation contains six works plus an appendix by John Blow including the Voluntary in D minor for double organ.
